April Mental Health Forum-Emotional Regulation Skills

Collier School's latest Mental Health Forum centered on tools to best support students during emotional dysregulation. These tools can be used in and out of the classroom to guide students toward emotional balance and ultimately, emotional thriving. They are also utilized in our STAR Program! Let's keep prioritizing our students' individual needs to create a safe and supportive environment!

Exploring DNA in Biology!

Last week in Lab Biology, Collier High School Kateri students delved deep into their own DNA! Using Gatorade and rubbing alcohol to extract cheek DNA, they got an inside look at what makes them who they are, literally!

Autism Acceptance Blue Out!

Spreading love and acceptance this Autism Acceptance Month! Collier staff came together for a blue out to show support for the autism community, giving ribbons and bracelets for students to participate. Let's celebrate inclusion and acceptance for all!

 

March Mental Health Forum

Collier School hosted their March  Mental Health Forum tackling school avoidance, a challenge many students face, especially in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. Instead of punishment, we prioritize compassion and understanding for students struggling with attending school. Since 2017, our Shepherding Program has been providing support as students navigate their return to school. More info about the program and the various student support services provided can be found below.

 

World Autism Awareness Day

April 2 is #worldautismacceptanceday and #worldautismawarenessday. Join Collier Youth Services and Autism NJ in promoting #autismacceptance today and throughout the year to help increase the understanding and acceptance of individuals with autism and their families.
